Work Top Oil

Worktop Oil is an air-curing oil that penetrates deep into the wood, leaving a water- and stain-resistant surface. The oil enhances the natural texture of the wood and gives the surface a natural, fresh look. Worktop Oil can be used on untreated or previously oiled/sanded surfaces.

Preparation

It's important that both the wood and the oil have a temperature of at least 15°C (preferably around 20°C) and a humidity of approximately 50%. Make sure the room is well ventilated for optimal evaporation and drying time. Sand old and previously treated surfaces with 180-grit sandpaper. Vacuum the surface thoroughly. Clean the surface thoroughly with Intensive Wood Cleaner, mixing 1 part cleaner with 20 parts water. Then rinse with clean water. After cleaning, let the surface dry for at least 8 hours at 20°C. Mix the oil thoroughly.
Always remember to test on a less visible area to check the compatibility of the surface with the product.

Final sanding

Grit 180.

Treatment

Using a brush, apply an appropriate amount of oil in an even, covering layer. If possible, also apply a coat of oil to the back of the work surface. Wait about 30 minutes at 20°C (68°F) for the oil to penetrate the wood. Apply more oil if dry spots appear. Buff with a red or white WOCA brush along the grain. This will make the surface more durable. Then wipe off any excess oil with a lint-free cotton cloth. No excess oil should remain on the surface. If the surface is not sufficiently dry, it will dry with a sticky consistency. Let the surface rest for an hour and repeat the steps. The surface should be treated two or three times after use. For the final treatment, sand in wet oil with 280-400 grit sandpaper before drying with a lint-free cotton cloth.

Note

The countertop should be maintained at least once a year, or as needed. For best results, use Worktop Oil or WOCA Maintenance Gel. For a more thorough restoration, follow the entire procedure.
